This year for the first time Community IT Innovators will be sponsoring the official 17NTC conference app, which will enhance your experience March 23-25th here in Washington DC –  and we’ll post as soon as the app is live and ready to download in the beginning of March. You can use it to create your personalized 17NTC agenda.
At last check there were about 100 registrations left, and the regular rates end February 28th – so if you are planning to attend, now is the time to register. Many of us from Community IT Innovators have attended over the years and can recommend this inclusive and fun conference as a chance to connect with your peers in nonprofit technology. We’ll be there this year and hope to connect with you as well – tweet us @CommunityIT for where we’ll be and what sessions we’re excited about.
Our friend Bethany Lister at NTEN has put together an informative post with Tips for First-Timers to the conference, and even old hands can learn from this community-sourced advice. Recommendations include planning ahead to maximize your sessions, but staying flexible and being prepared to bail on sessions that don’t resonate – and remember to roam the halls and plan to engage with your colleagues there as well.
One bit of advice I haven’t tried yet is to work the sponsors’ tables as you would a mixer where you wanted to meet everyone – not just linger at the booths you think will interest you. Of course, there are actual mixers and “birds of a feather” tables for lunch and after hours – but our friend Peter Campbell recommends leaving shyness at home and just introducing yourself – “the crowd at NTC is warm, welcoming, and mission-driven, as opposed to ego-driven. We’re all about meeting people and sharing our knowledge and resources.”
Hope to see you there!
