idealware nonprofit technology policy workbook

Have you visited Idealware? Community IT Innovators has sponsored several reports there. But you don’t have to love just our reports, there is a wealth of information there on many technology-oriented questions for nonprofits. These reports are researched and written by a nonprofit for nonprofits, and unlike other sites are not just business technology reports with some nonprofit glossary items thrown in.

As a nonprofit technology provider and consultants, Community IT Innovators shares our knowledge and insights through our monthly webinar series and here on our site, and you can trust our research – but it is by nature qualitative. We report back to our community on the view from our work on the ground with our clients, what we see and experience as we deal with security threats, business continuity, migration to the cloud, and all the other aspects of running nonprofit technology at your organizations. We aren’t in a position to provide in-depth quantitative research and reports, so we have been very happy to partner with Idealware to bring you those resources, with their academic rigor and impartiality.

Idealware offers several styles of reports – including two major types – “few good tools” technology reviews, and broader “consumer guide” surveys of a sector. From their website “Idealware is, at heart, a research organization. Every article or report we write which includes reviews of software products follows a specific research methodology…”

Idealware has a research policy in place that they cannot take phone calls from those who distribute software or look at particular products except for specific research for a report or article. They don’t answer the phone to vendors and marketers.

“Idealware, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the authoritative source for independent, thoroughly-researched technology resources for the social sector. Our publications, assessments, and training can save you time and money by providing impartial guidance that gives you the knowledge and confidence you need to decide what’s best for your organization.”
